Fumed Silica For Silicone Foam/Sponge | China
Project details
Functions of HIFULL fumed silica in Silicone Foam/Sponge
HIFULL® fumed silica is used as a reinforcing agent in silicone (LSR/HTV) foaming materials. The silicone hydroxyl group (Si-OH) on the surface of HIFULL® fumed silica can form a physical or chemical combination with the foaming silica matrix, forming a matrix molecular adsorbent layer on the surface of the silica, which constitutes a three-dimensional network structure in which the silica particles and the matrix molecules are integrated.
The three-dimensional network structure of silica particles and matrix molecules effectively restricts the deformation of the matrix molecular chain, thus achieving the reinforcing effect and significantly improving the mechanical properties of the foamed material.
Solution
Silicone foam is a lightweight, highly elastic material, its polymer’s mechanical properties and resistance to deformation is poor. Fumed silica is an excellent reinforcing agent for silicone foam. We recommend our hydrophobic fumed silica HIFULL® HB-132.
HB-132 is hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) – treated silica. It can realize high filling and provide excellent reinforcing performance in foaming material systems, and at the same time, it has a very low thickening effect and excellent application maneuverability.
