Thickening Function of Hydrophobic Fumed Silica In High-solid Acrylic Coatings

Sample A is high solid acrylic coating without fumed silica
Experimental samples: Another three coating samples are added HIFULL HB-630 by different percentage
- Test their viscosity by rotational rheometer
- Data shows that the blank sample has the lowest viscosity
- While the sample added 1.2% HB-630 has the highest viscosity.
Experiment Conclusion: Within a certain range, the higher the addition of HIFULL fumed silica HB-630, the better the thickening effect on high solid acrylic coating.

Pyrohydrolysi & Trichloromethylsilane
Fumed silica is synthesized by the pyrohydrolysis of silicon tetrachloride or trichloromethylsilane in the flame of hydrogen and oxygen. Our main raw material is silicon tetrachloride, and the secondary is trichloromethylsilane.

When fumed silica is used as filler or additives, it helps in thickening, reinforcement, transparency, free-flow, thixotropic performance, dielectric properties, anti-settling, heat insulation, and anti-sagging. For example, for powder products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-caking agent; for liquid products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-settling agent or suspending agent.
