Fumed Silica Improves Sedimentation Resistance For Anti-corrosive Coating
When grouting on vertical or overhead surfaces, it is important to prevent issues such as flow and dripping. Fumed silica can help address this problem.

Sample A is anti-corrosive coating without fumed silica, Another three coating samples are added HIFULL HB-139 by 0.4%, 0.8% and 1.2% respectively
Put sample A and other three samples into different glass bottles
Leave them at room temperature and room humidity for 2 weeks
Sample A, which is just coatings without fumed silica, observed obvious pigment delamination
- The coating with 0.4% fumed silica added has more obvious settlement
- Paints added with 0.8% fumed silica experienced slight settling.
- Paints added with 1.2% fumed silica did not settle
While the coating sample with 1.2% of HIFULL HB-139 added is held together, there are no layers.

Experiment Conclusion: The higher the amount of HIFULL fumed silica within certain range, the better its sedimentation resistance for anti-corrosive coating

When fumed silica is used as filler or additives, it helps in thickening, reinforcement, transparency, free-flow, thixotropic performance, dielectric properties, anti-settling, heat insulation, and anti-sagging. For example, for powder products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-caking agent; for liquid products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-settling agent or suspending agent.
