Fumed Silica In Epoxy Grout – Anti-sagging Function
When grouting on vertical or overhead surfaces, it is important to prevent issues such as flow and dripping. Fumed silica can help address this problem.
experiment process
- Add 5.7% hydrophobic fumed silica to AB component epoxy grout sealant;
- fully disperse with a high-speed disperser as an experiment sample;
- Take another AB component epoxy grout without adding fumed silica as a blank sample;
- Put the experiment sample into the packaging tube;
- use a glue gun to squeeze onto the flow leveling tester;
- scraped on steel plate;
- Carry out the same process for the blank sample;
- After scraping, place the two steel tinplates straight up;
- The experiment sample added HIFULL fumed silica performs good anti-sagging properties;
- While the blank sample without HIFULL fumed silica is dripping down.
The above experiment shows that HIFULL Fumed silica can effectively enhance the epoxy grout’s resistance to dripping.

Pyrohydrolysi & Trichloromethylsilane
Fumed silica is synthesized by the pyrohydrolysis of silicon tetrachloride or trichloromethylsilane in the flame of hydrogen and oxygen. Our main raw material is silicon tetrachloride, and the secondary is trichloromethylsilane.

When fumed silica is used as filler or additives, it helps in thickening, reinforcement, transparency, free-flow, thixotropic performance, dielectric properties, anti-settling, heat insulation, and anti-sagging. For example, for powder products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-caking agent; for liquid products, HIFULL fumed silica is used as an anti-settling agent or suspending agent.
